GMR Named Event and Experiential Agency of the Year
This week, leaders in sports marketing are heading New York City for the 2014 Sports Business Awards. Hosted by the Sports Business Journal, the annual awards will recognize the very best in sports marketing, from sponsors and agencies to leagues and events.
As a nominee in both the “Corporate Consulting” and “Event and Experiential” categories, GMR will be present at Wednesday’s ceremony, as will our clients at P&G, nominees for Sports Sponsor of the Year. Here are SBJ’s highlights for each of these nominations.
GMR for Sports Event and Experiential Marketing
Blue Chip clients and blue-chip events highlight GMR’s work with activation at the NCAA Final Four, Masters, America’s Cup, Super Bowl, Sochi Olympic Games and other events and properties across the globe. The agency renewed many major clients and added the likes of ExxonMobil, Nissan and Fox Sports. Overall, GMR demonstrated its adeptness, with clients ranging from VIP executive hospitality to consumer facing projects.
GMR for Corporate Consulting, Marketing and Client Services
GMR’s merger with SportsMark was no distraction, as it helped the agency achieve record revenue for the fourth straight year and significant growth into total sports billings. Successful programs under GMR’s aegis included Procter & Gamble’s “Thank You, Mom” campaign, Reese’s Final Four activities, and SAP’s growing sponsorship portfolio. New clients included ExxonMobil, Northwestern Mutual, Esurance, Nissan and Hertz.
P&G for Sports Sponsor of the Year
For years, multibrand packaged goods marketers like Procter & Gamble eschewed sports sponsorships. More recently, P&G has been so successful leveraging large sports properties that many competitors are following. Whether it’s multibrand NFL campaigns with Tide, Gillette, Duracell and Head & Shoulders, or the artful connection of moms and families with the Olympics, P&G has led more packaged goods marketers into sports, and driven incremental retail display and sales volume while doing so.
